In a bid to sustain such a status the country has consistently and regularly advocated for integrity and accountability among the various stakeholders in the field of athletics.

It is for this reason that today the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) convened a public participation forum in Kericho on the Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to strengthen Kenya’s anti-doping legal, policy and regulatory framework by aligning the country’s anti-doping regime with the World Anti-Doping Code and other related international standards.

The session held at Kericho Teachers Training College brought together different stakeholders including athletes, coaches, referees, religious leaders and the County Government of Kericho.

In his remarks, ADAK Principal Education Officer, Kennedy Mwai, said the proposed amendments being subjected to scrutiny by the stakeholders were aimed at reinforcing the mandate and enforcement powers of ADAK, while putting in place hefty fines and punitive jail terms to those engaging directly or indirectly in doping activities.

According to Mr. Kennedy, the bill also seeks to enhance intelligence gathering, testing, results management, education and Therapeutic Use Exemption(TUE) processes.

The County Government of Kericho has reaffirmed its commitment to jointly work with ADAK in promoting and advocating for Clean Sports in the county.
